Work Experience

Professor of Urology and Consultant Urological Surgeon at the Guy’s & St Thomas’ Hospitals, London.  He is one of the pioneers of robotic surgery in UK and has international recognition for making a major contribution in robot assisted surgery for bladder cancer.

He served as a Director BAUS office of Education for 3 years & Specialist Advisory Committee (SAC) in Urology for 5 years. He has been Co–Chair of the UK National Simulation programme in Urology (SIMULATE), member Joint Committee of Higher Surgical Training (JCHST) and joint lead for Surgical BSC King’s College London. He was an examiner FRCS Urology, examiner Int FRCS Urology for 2 years and Chair of the Joint Surgical Colleges Fellowship Examination in Urology for 3 years.

Professor Khan has made major contribution to the development of laparoscopic, robotic surgery, education & training. He has over 500 publications to his name (280 peer-reviewed papers, over 300 abstracts), edited two books, contributed 10 book chapters. He was awarded OBE (Order of British Empire) in 2007, a Silver Cystoscope for the trainer of the year in 2017,  Tamgha-e-Imtiaz (Pakistan) in 2018, Life Time Achievement awards from Zenith Global Foundation and APPS (2022, 2023) and St Peter’s Medal from the British Association of Urological Surgeons (BAUS) in 2024
